Solved: HKLM/software/omniquad found with AVG 8 free
Hello everybody, I wonder if any of you know something about this.

I have AVG 8 antivirus free, everytime I run a scan, the following is found

HKLM/software/omniquad

Object name HKLM\SOFTWARE\Omniquad
Detection name Found Adware.RogueSuspect
Object type registry key
SDK Type Core

I remove it and it keeps coming back
I have removed it manually from regedit
I have googled it but find no specific description or origin
I found out that there is an ativirus program called Omniquad, but I never downloaded it or even knew about its existance until I started seeing this word in my scan reports

Windows defender does not detect this file or whatever it is... though

I think this is a kind of adware, but that is only me. Do you know anything about this?

I am using a

HP pavillion dv2000
32 bits
Windows vista home premium
intel R core tm2 duo cpu t5250@1.50ghz

thanks a lot

Smile hklm/software/software found with AVG 8 free
Thank you so much for your replies... I appreciate it.

I changed antivirus, now I am using Avira Antivir and also the superantyspyware and comodo as a firewall

Avira nor Supeantyspyware detect this "supposed threat" however it is still there, I keep deleting it from regedit but it keeps coming back.

I have googled this specific issue and have not find any specific confirmation about if it is a malware, adware or virus, however, I have taken a close look to the folder and its contents and I think it might be realted to a spyware from Anonymizer the path takes me to that program file.

I have anonymous surfing and I tried their spyware some months ago... I will contact their tech support to find out if this file belongs to their spyware program...

I will follow the leads you have suggested as well, I want to know the origin of this file and why it keeps coming back... I will post my findings for future reference and in case anybody else finds this same problem

THANKS AGAIN...

Smile hklm/software/omniquad
Anonymizer tech support has confirmed that this file belongs to their spyware engine.

I used the malwarebytes program to scan my computer and did not find anything wrong with it.

Thanks again for your advice, I will mark this as solved
