Annoying Spybot Search and Destroy 1.6.0
Can anyone tell me how to turn off the extremely annoying window that continually pops up in the lower R. corner of my screen, saying Spybot is doing this or that. If I can't get rid of it, I'll have to uninstall...it's driving me crazy.

Hey Penny Honey - Spybot actually isn't too bad (apart from these annoying features)

If you recall during the installation there was a panel with tick marks, one was active internet explorer, the other being the tea timer - pain in the patooty as you've discovered.

Heres what you can do to shut off......

Start Spybot, upper left click <MODE> and then <ADVANCED> yes to switching over. Brings up three menu options, you want <SETTINGS>
and 3rd down is <SETTINGS> again.

Scroll down to <SYSTEM START> and select "no automation" and scan for whatever else you don't want.

Personally I prefer not to run this as part of the PC start up

Hope this assist/HJJ

Those notifications are from TeaTimer, which is turned on by default during installation.

Make sure the Mode is set to Advanced, go to Tools > Resident and uncheck 'Resident TeaTimer'.

At this time I don't remember where to do it but - You can turn off the ballons in spybot/teatimer.

Also you can uninstall 1.6 and download/reinstall 1.5.2. I've misplaced that link but I'll find it and post it. IMPORTANT - If you reinstall 1.5.2 and update it, on the update download screen, remember to Uncheck the update to 1.6 box and, if you want faster bootup, uncheck the update TeaTimer box.

Here is the link to download SpyBot 1.5.2. Remember to update it after reinstalling. Also, remember to uncheck the 1.6 & TeaTimer boxes when updating 1.5.2 so that you will keep it as it was.

About the Balloons - When you right click on the SpyBot icon, one of the items in the window says show info balloons. If you see a box and it is checked, just hover over the words and click. The box will disappear. For some reason, when one of those tools is off, it doesn't show a box. Being greyed out like that makes you think that it is an option that isn't available. However, to turn the balloons on, just hover over the words and click. That will turn the balloons back on.

Hope this helps, Steve
