Smile Conflicts with firewall & Antivirus
Hi Guys

can some one help? I had more RAM added recently. Previous to this i used comodo 2.? and avast 4. when i got my computer back the person who upgraded my machine took off comodo and avast and put on Zone alarm and AVG8. I couldnt get anything to work with ZA and also had problems with AVG so i uninstalled them both and installed the latest version of Comodo, however that gave me the BSoD so i reluctantly had to uninstall that, it was definitely that as I tried uninstaling it and reinstalling it again. I had a version of McAfee supplies with my isp, so i tried that, however it wont update, keeps asking me to register it, even the mcafee tech guy couldnt get it to work. I then uninstalled that and decided to try outpost firewall which worked fine, until i tried using it with avast, then it slowed down my computer, plus outpost then also wouldnt update. however, outpost did give an alert that 007guard was using avast or something like that. so the problem is what is the best combination to use? I quite like outpost, and even installed avast first to avoid problems but it is very slow to load when i use the 2 together. Can someone help please? I'n not that techical say laymans terms please. Thank you

Hi and welcome to TSG.
Something isn't working right here.
Either return the Pc "back the person who upgraded my machine" as the problem started after they upgraded.
Or keep trying different combinations.
If Avast works then keep it.
Firewall list.

Thanks, I did use the comparison table before I installed Outpost. I will have to see what other combinations will work well with it.

The best thing you did then was uninstall AVG and Zonealarm. I would never recommend any version (paid or free) of avg but i would recommend the paid version of zonealarm.

And what is BSoD??
