Question ZoneAlarm Firewall..Adware/spyware..
I need some information about ZoneAlarm firewall.

Will it block spyware/adware from getting on my system? Right now I have Spyware Doctor, but it does not prevent adware from getting on my system. It only can remove them after I have been infected. It does not block adware/spyware.

This is why I am looking into the ZoneAlarm firewall. I want to stop the problem before it gets on my system.

Thanks everyone.
Scott.

I use Webroot Spysweeper, and it has active protection. But its not free.

A firewall's duty is to block unrequested packets from entering the system. Some spyware is installed during surfing, and for those kind, the firewall will do nothing about them since you requested (surfed to) that site.

A freebie solution is to use the Firefox browser and use an add-in called noscript. Firefox doesnt use ActiveX and noscript blocks javascript from executing. The whole idea is that some spyware are ActiveX modules and rely on bugs in javascript to install.

I recommend using Spywareblaster. It acts as a firewall but does not run in the background. You need to update the definitions weekly. You need to Enable All Protection after an update. You do not need to run a scan.

Download it here

No but it can or may let you know it it is it's program because your get a alert from ZA asking what rights you want to give it and you can say no. So it will not stop something from getting on but if you say no to a alert you may stop what ever from getting worse if it had gotten online to download more or do what ever.
