Jumping Cursor
Good morning

When I an typing an email or word processor document every few minutes the cursor decides to leap off to a new area on the screen. As I am watching my typing I dont notice this for a while. So you can imagine how frustrating it is - As I typed this it has just done it again- I have AVG checking etc but all appears wellin that area.
Can anyone tell me how to fix pse beyond putting a hammer through the screen.

thanks for any help

sounds like a mouse problem, I would switch mouses with another machine and see if it continues to happen.

bogjumper,

Not knowing your system, I presume you have a touchpad and what MAY be happening is that if you are resting your hands on the case, you may be putting pressure on the touch pad that is being sensed as a mouse movement. Most notebooks with touchpads can be configured so that the touchpad is turned off when you plug in a mouse. Check the configuration via control panel to see if you turn the touchpad off when using an external mouse. If so, give that a try.

Thanks
Thanks Billy

That sounds a possibility as I do rest the heels of my hands on the case when I am typing.
To keet them up in the air is a pain and would stop me from doing lengthy messages. I am going to try your suggestion and hopes it works. I am typing a fairly long reply as I am keeping my hands off the case and so far have not had one jump.-you may well be right which does not say much for the Fujitsu Siemens laptop.

Cheers

My pleasure. I had a similar problem with my first laptop with a built in touchpad. If you find that is the problem, some have a utility whereby you can adjust the sensitivity of the touchpad to help prevent this anomaly. If your system has such a utility, see if adjusting that will help as well. It will take some time to get it right for you, so be patient. Good luck!

Thanks again Billy- you hit the nail on the head as I have found all ok if I hold my wrists up.
I am emailing manufacturers as I can find nothing to alleviate the problem to see what they say.
