shockwave update?
hello everybody, here I am with yet another problem, hopefully not severe:
all of a sudden my firewall (Zone Alarm) is sending alerts that Shokwave Helper is trying to access the Internet. When I say "no" (why else?) an icon appears on the quick tray (? the one on the right) claiming to be Shockwave Updater. But if I click on it (right or left, it doesn't matter), nothing happens, which makes me suspicious... what bothers me is that I have a net connection to the Internet, so I am permanently connected (before, in these situations, I could always say: "well, since I'm not connected...").
any experience on this?
tia!

p.s. I don't know if this has anything to do with the problem, but just in case, since the weird things started after that... a few days ago I downloaded the latest version of RealPlayer (it was requested for listening to preview of audio files on Amazon) and the computer crashed and requested me to clean up the latest software as it was causing malfunction. I even sent the report of mulfunction to Microsoft - which I usually don't...
Anyway, I deleted the whole Realplayer, never liked the application anyway, too invasive and exclusive, even to my unexperted opinion...

I did it (thank you for the link, I had gotten there anyway ;-) ) but there is no restoration point reg. Realplayer, the only one I could find is one of some days earlier about the Windows update I had downloaded and installed... non sign of Realplayer installation/download, all the points say: this will make no change to the actuall configuration... and the shockwave icon is still grimacing from its position...
any idea of what it is, anyway?
thanks heaps!

thank you for the link! (sorry I couldn't reply earlier, I have a 1 year old and never know when I'll finally have 15 mins of quiet to sit at the computer...!)

I had previously found something similar and went immediately to check if there was this PostUpdater.exe in my system, because i reckon it's malware (wherever it comes from), but the thing is, I don't have it: in the Macromed folder (in Windows/system32) I only have "shockwave helper.exe" or UNWISE.exe...
Don't know what to do (or what to delete), but surely I shouldn't delete/unistall Shockwave altogether?
