BACKUP DVD's
I was using AVG Free 8.0 until the other day when it gave me an error message...something about a missing .bin file & that I wasn't protected....Soooo...I uninstalled AVG Free 8.0
and opted for a 90 day Free Trial of Microsoft 'Windows Live OneCare'.....while I was at it I made Backup DVD's using the Live OneCare program.....now I hear that AVG Free has corrected its problem and I am thinking of going back to AVG Free...NOW my question to you kind folks is...'Are the BACKUP DVD's I made good to use if I don't have Live OneCare
on my system?

Thank You for anytime you can throw at this problem..

Most backup systems use their own proprietory backup format to store things. Insert the DVD and take a look to see if you can see regular folders and files as your hard drive's Document folder. Double click to see if the files can be opened. Then you'll know if the DVD are still good without LiveOneCare.

That error was a bug AVG had in one of their updates. That was corrected and now it is fine again.

Yes, the error was on the AVG end and was fixed that same day.
