What security programs do you have?
Anti-viruses?
Firewalls?

Popular messengers (AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo messenger) send clear data. Thus anybody can intercept your data and use them.

You can try some chat encrypter, it encrypts data and send them through above messengers. Thats just a thought, even some antivirus firewalls may encrypt your data to prevent your data from interception.

i would also recommend switching from the windows firewall to Comodo Firewall Pro. http://www.personalfirewall.comodo.com/. This is IMHO, the best free firewall and I would say that it even compares to several paid firewalls. Comodo should hide your IP.

Also, if you wouldn't mind paying a bit, you could try either of the paid versions of KeyScrambler. http://www.qfxsoftware.com/.
