Are you trying to update Office?

Did you purchase it? It appears to be looking for the trial folder, trials last for about 3 to 6 months, max.

FWIW, every single time I've seen that error it required the media for either the Office install, or, if we've installed an additional Office App, such as Infopath, that install media.

Only reason I know that was that I had pushed out sp3 and one entire opco errored out on it; turned out, they were all using Infopath, and it was asking for the install media for THAT application, not for the Office media itself.

But every single time I've seen that I've been required to insert the original media that contained the data.msi I installed it from.

if you don't have the original media, then you need to call MS support and get their assistance, IMO.

Then it shouldn't be looking to that folder.

You should have installation media.

Microsoft Works, and Microsoft Office are two different things. I have no clue what you have installed or what you have purchased.

Do they even sell MS Works anymore?

Yes Candy Ms Works is still a major offering on most branded pc's.
But I wonder how old this laptop is because if it is trying to update a trial version of Office and it is more than 3 months old and you did not buy it, well that is the issue. Either than or you need to change the scroll from Works to ms Office appropriate folder.
