AVG Free 8.0 not updating (not the .bin problem)
Hi,

I have AVG Free 8.0 and it doesn't seem to have updated since 8th August. As far as I know it hasn't warned me about a missing .bin file like the recent problems some of you have had with it. It just won't update, no 'failed to update message' or anything, just hangs there saying 'Checking for new updates' for ages. I've tried turning the firewall off. I've tried re-installing it - after i did this I did get an odd error message from AVG...

@Frw_Page_UpdScan_Cfg_Error

That was in a pop-up box and it had a button under it which would have been an 'ok' or 'close' button, except the button was blank.

I've tried updating it manually too, just does the same thing.

Any ideas?

Seems to be off and on again problems with this version in Vista and XP I would move on if I were you. Avast or Avira are fine if you can't afford to buy an antivirus program.
