Seeking Advice/Tutorial on Optimizing Systems

Hey all,

Could anyone recommend good tutorials for optimizing my PC (Vista) and Max (OS 10) systems?

Also, my wife's Mac laptop seems to be really short on memory for no good reason. Does anyone have any suggestions for troubleshooting why this is?
