Hi,
Recently, whenever I log on to my computer, the processor becomes completely and constantly occupied leaving me unable to use the computer at all. I pressed control-alt-delete to open up the processes menu (which opened up very, very slowly...) and found that there were about 10 instances of fssm32.exe (which I know to be the antivirus program). A new instance of fssm32.exe appeared every ten seconds or so, and between them they were using up all the RAM.
At the same time, one of those "send an error report" menus appeared saying that "F-secure Quarantine Handler" has caused a problem and needs to be closed. After a few more minutes (the processor still going like crazy the whole time), another one appears saying "F-secure Automatic Update Agent" needs to close. More of these messages keep appearing, all relating to the F-secure program.
Also, before these error report messages appear, I get a "Runtime Error" saying that "C:\Program Files\Logitech\video\menifestengine.exe" was terminated in an unusual way.
After battling against the lag and using the ctrl-alt-delete menu, I managed to manually shut down all the instances of fssm32.exe, although new ones kept appearing every few seconds. After they were all shur down, they stopped appearing and I can continue to use my computer as normal, albeit without any kind of security program running.
All this has just started happening today at the same time. I have restarted the computer several times but the same thing happens.
I am using Windows XP.
I hope someone can help me. Thanks in advance.
