(0xc0000142) problem
When i turn my computer on, my background loads on the screen, then a message saying: "the application failed to initialze properly (0xc0000142) click OK to terminate the application. I then have to ctrl, alt delete to restart the computer, which may have to be done 3,4 times before the machine loads properly without any error messages. Also, my windows firewall is constantly turning itself off, and i scan my computer to be told theres nothing wrong with it?!? i have windows XP. please help.

Hi and welcome.
First try system files checker.
Start>run>type
sfc /scannow

You will need the Xp install Cd

Apart from Avg what other security programs do you have installed?
