Solved: Which Firewall?
Hello All,

This is my first post. I have a firewall question...

I am running Windows XP pro, which has Windows firewall turned on. My AV is Norton Internet Security 2007, which also has a personal firewall turned on. I guess what I need to know is which firewall is better or does it really matter which one I use?

I turned off the Norton firewall to test something over the weekend, but it does not like to be turned off. The icon in the system tray turns an abboying red. ANy help would be MUCH appreciated.

Thank You!!

Hi and welcome.
As you no doubt know, you should not have two firewalls runing at the sane time.
Not a fan of norton but if I was using it, I would turn off Windows firewall and let Norton do it's thing.

Yeah I am aware that it is not a good thing to have both firewalls running. I already have the Windows firewall turned off. I used to use McAfee, but I got so sick of it I had to change. We use McAfee at my job & it just sucks as far as I am concerned.

Thanks for your input!

I personally would use a firewall different than Windows. The windows firewall will protect for incoming but not outgoing...On one of our computers I use ZoneAlarm the other computer has Outpost firewall (both are free).

There is also Comodo Firewall( my favorite). 2-way protection, top-rank security, and free.
