Something is constantly eating up my space
Eventually, I'll run outta space.. Anyways, I noticed like 3 weeks ago that I had less than 200MB on my C drive and so I did a disk cleanup and then it went up to about 600-700MB but then a couple days later I find out I have less than 200MB left again so I do disk cleanup again BUT the space it goes to is only around 300MB. This is happening over and over again and I have been deleting/moving some of my bigger programs/files from C to my D drive but eventually it looks like I am going to end up with no space at all.

This could be related to a virus I had earlier but I cleaned up my computer from help from the Malware/Adware section and I just did a full scan again with Malware Bits and Bytes and there was nothing wrong. I did a disk check also and it found no errors. I don't know if this is related but I also can't hear sound online but I can hear it offline and programs that I download sometimes don't install because they are always found as corrupt.

I don't know if this belongs here so I'm sorry if it doesn't.

Try using Ccleaner to free up space on your hard drive.

Using Internet Explorer, visit http://www.kaspersky.com/service?chapter=161739400

Answer Yes, when prompted to install an ActiveX component.
• The program will then begin downloading the latest definition files.
• Once the files have been downloaded click on NEXT
• Locate the Scan Settings button & configure to:
o Scan using the following Anti-Virus database:
 Extended
o Scan Options:
 Scan Archives
 Scan Mail Bases
• Click OK & have it scan My Computer
• Once the scan is complete, it will display if your system has been infected. It does not provide an option to clean/disinfect. We only require a report from it.
• Click the Save as Text button to save the file to your desktop so that you may post it in your next reply
• Turn off the real time scanner of any existing antivirus program while performing the online scan

Thanks,

v

Another problem we see around here is disk space usage when automatic updates fail over and over. Right click on your C:\Windows\Installer folder, then click Properties. If it shows more than a couple of GB used, then look in the folder to see if there are multiple randomly named msi or msp files that are exactly the same size and date.

Don't delete anything from this folder though without checking with us!!!

I've got the same issue and I'm looking for the C:\Windows\Installer folder - I get as far as C:\Windows but I don't see an Installer folder. Is it in the hidden folders?
