Solved: security
hi all, just a quick question. i am using avast home and had no problem with it for the last few years but recentely i had to reinstall xp and now avast is blocking any emails i forward to my hotmail from outlook express i. i have to pause avast for the email to go through. but then i am leaving my system vulnerable for that short amt of time. i'm wondering if anyone can tell me how good avira personal antivirus is. it says its a hot download in major geeks. also i have the windows xp firewall in my computer (microsoft i guess) and i'm wondering if the comodo 3.0 firewall is better. also does anyone know much about the free comodo antivirus and if its good. http://antivirus.comodo.com/ thanks for any and all input

Hi check in Firewall settings check that these are set to connect.
avast Web Scanner.
avast e-Mail Scanner Service.
avast Update executable.

You may need to re-download Avast.

Comodo Anti-virus program have yet to check it out.

hello boo5790. I use both AviraAntiVir and Comodo Firewall(version 2.4) along with MalwareBytes,SpywareBlaster,WinPatrol, and SuperAntiSpyware.Only things that get in are usually cookies which I let WinPatrol's doggie eat if unwanted. Don't have any problems with mail in or out.

No. best to leave it running.
D/load Comodo to desktop>disconnect from the internet>switch off Windows firewall>install Comodo.

hello again. When i was installing Comodo, one of the options during install was to de-activate Windows Firewall. Comodo does that for you on reboot. Best to reboot to enable all functions. Windows Firewall can be on during Comodo download.

thanks for the help all. i downloaded avira and comodo and all seems to be ok so far. i can now forward emails from outlook to my hotmail and send emails with outlook. when i ran a scan with avira it picked up 9 trojans that avast did not pickup. hopefully things stay working good. thank you all for your assistance and reccomendations for security.
