Solved: What is the best antivirus currently out?
I'm looking at nod32 and kaspersky i hear they are both good.

I would sue a complete internet security program but they seem to bloated, I know how to browse safetly and if i don't my antivirus will tell me anyway, no?

Ive been using AVAST for years and its kept all of my machines clean. Best part is its free. AVG is also one to look at. But I go with what works for me.

Eset Nod32 is the best as far as I'm concerned. I'm running it on 7 machines.

In the old days, about three months ago, we used to argue about which is best---AVG or AVAST.

I've used NOD32 for nearly five years now and have been very happy with it. Take the 30 day trial and, if you like it, buy a two year licence (I'm on my second one).

The free programs may do an adequate job, but I'm being protected for the equivalent of about Ł15 per year, which is less than I pay for newspapers every month!

NOD32 hands down. I have used Kaspersky, which is excellent, but NOD32 is the best IMO. I've been using it for at least 5-6 years. I too just bought a two year license.

"I would sue a complete internet security program"

I wouldn't.

Paid: NOD32
Free: Avira AntiVir

AntiVir has great support, the smallest memory footprint after NOD32, and the best definitions. Google to find out how to disable the ads, if you're going to use the free version.

Kaspersky has nice definitions, but it is more of a memory hog than NOD32, which also has great definitions.

does just using an antivirus leave you open to attacks? i mean ive got an spi/nat router but i dust don't see what would make the internet securit suite better. i guess it just adds another firewall.

ive been using nod for a week or two now and i like it. it updates by itself, and i dont detect any performance losses whatsoever. i just hope the antivirus alone is good enough.

You're never completely protected. The best you can do is have a good antivirus, firewall, HIPS, browser, and keep your computer up to date. The only way you can really be safe from 99% of malware is to use Linux.
