Solved: Vista Security
Hi All,

I am running VISTA and my Norton subscription is running out.

1. Is Norton easy to remove? Do I simply uninstall?
2. Can I rely on VISTA firewall and antivirus?
3. Should I install free firewall / antivirus software? if so, which ones?

Thanks for your help.

Norton is one of the programs that leaves visible traces ( like most programs ), though I don't have Norton myself, so I can't state how easy it is to uninstall.

2/3. Can I rely on VISTA firewall and antivirus?

the Vista Firewall is upgraded from XP ( Which was only one-way) and is now two way, so you should be able to rely on that. ( If you are paranoid and feel that you need a better firewall, I suggest one from COMODO. )

What antivirus are you talking about? Windows defender? If so, no - it's not even an anti-virus. I suggest you download AVG, which is an easy-to-use and FREE AV.

Then, remember to have a couple of anti-spyware programmes. Windows Defender may work, but I recommend Ad-Aware and SUPERAntispyware.
( Yes, two at the same time )

Hope that enlightened you a tiny bit.
