Windows Vista Home Premium - Dell XPS410 - 2GB Ram - BitDefender Internet Security 2008 - IE 7 and Firefox 3.0.4 - Acronis True Image - Win Patrol - SpywareBlaster
BitDefender seems to be working great; however, I can not open the deep scan logs. They are listed for each scan I've done, but when I click on one and select "Show" my IE should open with the log; instead my Windows Explorer opens.
There is an item called Contextual Logs. I think those are just scans that I do of installers, email attachments, etc., before I open them. Those logs I can open and view, but not my regular scan logs.
I have been trying to deal with BitDefender on this for at least two months. I've received very little communication from them (disappointing) and when I do it's just to tell me to uninstall practically every program I have except BitDefender. I'm not willing to rely on nothing but BitDefender for spyware, and I would not be without Win Patrol and Acronis, which they have advised me to uninstall.
I have several alternate spyware scanning programs, some paid and some free. I alternate using them. But I don't have any of them set to run at start up. Also, I have all the shields, real time protection, etc., in each one of them disabled so that when I open one and run it those things aren't running in the background and conflicting BitDefender. I open them, update them and run scan, then close them down again.
Something, somewhere is keeping me from having access to viewing the logs or is erasing them??? The logs are there for each scan I've done but I can't view them. BD has been picking up one item for a long time that it doesn't scan because it's password protected. I'm not real worried about this item, but I'd like to see what it is and I can't because I don't have a log to view.
I don't want to get rid of BitDefender because it's working great and it's very highly rated.
I have written to other forums with no result. Can anyone out there help me at all?
