avg won't check emails
win xp sp2 / Dell latitude / AVG 8.0.175 says Email Scanner Not Active / I can't figure out how to fix it

Try reinstalling it.. I had the same trouble with one of our computers, and reinstalling it took care of the problem.

If it happens in the future, dont know if you tried already but i just opened my avg tray interface, clicked on the email scanner and made sure the scan incoming mail was checked, can check outgoing too if your paranoid but incoming should fit the bill just fine. If they were unchecked there is your problem. Check them and click save settings.
