I don't know what site you are trying to block so I can't offer specifics. Sometimes you need mutilple entries.

I don't really want to mention the name of the site.Although this might be in appropriate, I'll just use TSG as an example.
have tried
http://www.techguy.org/
www.techguy.org/

tried alternative links to that site as well, like
http://forums.techguy.org/
nothing seems to work
Am using Hostxpert to modify -read host file here

You don't want "http://" in front of the name or a "/" after it... only the website name.

Make sure the site in the hosts file does not have a # at the being of they line because any line that starts with a # is note seen.

Also when ever you block or unblock a site you need to close down your browser and go back to it because the change will not take effect till you close the browser.

Hey thanks had it working again shouldn't have put the '/'
and http:// either.

Funny my little attention seeking children didn't let me surf the net at all.

about the movie 2000bc did any one of you catch it
And those evil fiends in 2000bc, got themselves off my favorite list. maybe they were the ones who made the entire movie

If you kids are playing around with your hosts file get a hosts file manager that lets you lock it with a password to keep them from getting to it.

Plus you may need to clear the cache or temp folder if your setting do not refresh the page but looks at the cache or temp folder.

So to always make sure clear the cache or IE temp and close the browser
