Angry System Restore Issue
I'm not sure if I'm in the right section of the forum, and if I'm not please correct me. I'm new here and I joined because my mother messed up my computer seemingly beyond repair. It appears that she's done a System Restore to maybe a month after I bought it (over two years ago). Apparently, she went back to System Restore after this happened and restored it to the restore date on there. This made the Undo Restoration function useless. She should have just Undone the Restoration instead of going back to an earlier time, but she's slightly computer illiterate, so she didn't. I have also tried restoring it to a previous date, then undoing the restoration. That was ineffective as well. The only restore date I have is post-mess-up-restore. I have no idea how to fix my computer, and I'd really like to get it back to the point it should be at. However, if this is impossible, is there a free recovery program I can download to recover all of my files? Thanks in advance.

Before anyone can help you they'll have to know what system you're using. I have a WINME system that came complete with three system recovery disks. That came in very handy when it crashed a couple of years ago.

I have Windows XP on a Compaq Presario computer with an AMD Sempron processor. To my knowledge, it did not come with recovery disks, however, if I knew what disks I needed to get my hands on, the PC Maintenance teacher at my school or one of his students would likely be able to get it for me.
