can I install comodo firewall by itself? Or disable the AV?
Hi, I'm using AntiVir at the moment but unfortunately because my laptop is running a 64-bit Operating System I can't use Zonealarm firewall, as they don't have a 64-bit version.

I've been looking around and Comodo seems to have a fairly decent reputation. I went to their download site but all I can find is their "security suite" which includes AV. I just want to have the firewall by itself, without AV. Does anyone know if I have the option to only install the firewall, even if I download the suite?

Thanks for any replies!

Unfortunately you have to d/l the whole 30+MB but you get the option during the install to have the firewall only.

Keep an eye on the 'extras' that are offered during the installation process!

PS. Are you sure they offer a 64 bit version? There doesn't seem to be much information about it at the Comodo site. Also, I have read at another forum that there is to be an update soon, so you might want to wait and see if that happens.

Thank you both for the replies,

@TOGG, if you go to their download site, there is a dropdown menu that offers the choice between 32-bit and 64-bit versions.

I would post the exact link but right now their website won't load for me...

Now you mention it I seem to remember seeing a reference to a 64 bit version but I didn't go as far as the d/l page and couldn't see anything about it on the 'More info' part of the site.

Recent posts at the Comodo forum suggest that the new version I mentioned is now available, although I haven't checked if the Comodo site is carrying it yet; http://forums.comodo.com/feedbackcom...-t31139.0.html

I will eventually get a 'nag' popup about it and will think about updating then. I only upgraded myself a few days ago because I didn't find out until quite recently that I could refuse the AV component!

Well I just installed it, Firewall only, and it seems to work just fine.

It comes with some sort of anti-spyware aswell but that can be disabled, there are better programs for that.

My OS is Vista Ultimate 64-bit by the way, no problems.
