Nod32?
A friend of mine recently suggested to me NOD32 as an anti-virus.

May I ask is this program worth the money? Has anyone tried it before and can post any comments?

I am currently using free avast which right now has nothing wrong with it except a little ram consuming.

thanks

Avast works and I use it on several machines. Nod32 is also an excellent antivirus which I have used in the past.

My suggestion would be to download a 30 day evaluation version of Nod32 and see if the features it offers are worth the money to you.

Thanks but I don't want to go to the hassle of removing avast and re-installing if I don't like it.

Maybe I'l do this in the weekend or something thanks

I've been using it for nearly five years and have never had any trouble. It is light on resources, updates frequently and its 'heuristics' function means that it can stop malware even when there isn't a specific definition for it. The easiest thing to do would be to take the 30 day trial.

Only you can decide whether NOD, or any other security program, is worth paying for. Here in the UK I spend less on a years NOD subscription (approx £15 on a two year licence), than I do on newspapers (or lager!) for a single month!

PS. Unless there is something different about Avast it should be possible to leave it installed but stop it loading at startup while you run the NOD trial.

Can only confirm Togg's comments - I have been using NOD for several years now and have always been happy. Definition updates are daily or if necessary more often, happen automatically without hassles, program updates are less frequent and easy too. Configuration is fine as per default but there are some threads at Wilders for people interested in tweaking.
As Togg mentioned NOD has very good heuristics and at the same time produces less FP than other programs.
