Hi sage rod and Welcome to TSG

To remove Norton, Click on Start > Settings > Control Panel
double click on Add/Remove Programs, search for every item that belongs to Norton, Symantec, or LiveUpdate and remove them, reboot when prompt, or reboot manually if your computer hasn't automatically rebooted. To remove the leftovers download and run the Norton Removal Tool, read HERE

Then download Symantec

Thanks Kenny 94
I did apperciate the help buttttttt. I did go and try to remove the antivirus as prompted and still it comes up a Fatal Error during installation or I get a message such as Being Interuppted can not finish. That is when I'm in the process of Removing the program. What do I do next when this does not work? I do not have a CD to reload with it tells me it is a Corpprate version of Symntaec antivirus. if that helps out any. Keep me updated if you will. Thanks sage.

Hi sage rod,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

It appears that you have either a corrupt installation or possible infections. Please make sure you have all of the available Windows updates applied to your system and that you do not have any other anti virus software running besides Norton to avoid conflicts. If you are using Norton Internet Security or Norton 360, the Windows firewall must be disabled.

Let me know the exact Norton product and version you are using so I can provide you with more detailed instructions.
Thank you,

Mike

PS: You may want to change the status of this thread to not say "Solved" until we resolve the issue.

Hi sage rod,

If you go to Start->All Programs you should see a Symantec or Norton sub-menu. If so, please let me know if it is "Symantec AntiVirus" or "Norton AntiVirus" or Norton Internet Security."

If it says "Symantec AntiVirus" then you are using a corporate product which I do not support. But if you can figure out the product/version information in more detail, I can direct you to the correct support department.

If it is a Norton product I will be able to provide you with assistance on this forum. If you have a Norton consumer product then you most likely set up a "My Norton Account" which would provide you with your registration information.

You can log into that account by visiting the link below.

My Norton Account

Thank you,
Mike

Until you can identify exactly which program is currently installed there is not much that anyone can do to help. Can you open the current programs' Help files and click on 'About'? That should give details of the product and its version.
