Emails I didn't send are being sent
I am going nuts, in the last 4 days, I have recieved hundreds of email delivery failure messages on my hotmail account. I have sent none of these, however, a small fractionof them DO appear in my sent items folder. I have run my AVG, and an online scan, results are zero, I have run Spybot S+D, nothing found. I searched the web and found a few references to this email, from a couple years ago, but nothing current, can youadvise what I should try next. The text of the email is :

It's strange that you have found them in your sent items folder, usually it would be a case of somone spoofing your email address, when this happens you are not usually sending anything so don't get anything in the sent items folder, you just get all of the bounced emails. Since it is a hotmail email address I presume that you access your email from the hotmail webssite? If so then it probably makes sense to change your password. That should stop the emails being sent by you at the very least, it might not stop you receiving bounced emails though. How exactly do you access your mail? Outlook / website?

I access from the website, as I said it is only a fraction in my sent items, today it was 4 outgoing but 80+ reject notifications.
Am I safe to change my hotmail password at this time? or is it possible somehow that someone is aware of my password and would be notified or aware of a change, it is not a simplistic password to begin with, so I find it impossible that by fluke someone figured it out,

It's doubtful that there is a keylogger on the computer if you have ran the scans you mentioned and they came up clean, however you could try changing the hotmail password to something different on a different computer. It is more likely that your account has been included in a network of slave accounts that are being used for mass emailing spam. It is quite easy to spoof an email address so that someone else gets the undeliverable mail, have any of the mails in your sent items been sent to people that are on your contact lists or is are they just random addresses?

They appear to be random addresses on those in my sent items, however, there is mass mailings being returned from many addresses that were not ever part of the original sent items, so as far as I know, there has been no one I know recieve any from me.

I question the Hijack This entries that show symbols and stuff, all are BHO's I think, but I do not understand enough about the entries that I am comfortable deleting them without advice

I too suggest you get you log looked at. It is also important that you run only one antivirus program at a time. Running two at a time can create problems. The following appears to be from Norton.

I previously ran norton, until it expired and then based on advice here switched to AVG. I didn't read until after I posted the log file, so should I repost it in the other topic?

I would try to change the password. Obviously, someone has managed to get it. Perhaps with the help of a keylogger. Run a scan of your computer with an other antivirus. Try NOD32 or Kaspersky free trials or online scans.

Or, you could have been a victim of "phishing"...

One other thing, I can see you're using Facebook. I don't know what was exactly the threat mentionned by the medias recently about Facebook but perhaps somebody can check this out...

I would Post a log into the security forum but realize it often takes 2-3 days to get a response due to the number of infections found these days. Be patient and do not bump as 0 responses are what are looked for.

In the mean time these two can be fixed.
