AVG-AS stops updating 12/31/08
Have been using AVG-AS 7.5 on my WinXPsp3 for quite a long time and have begun getting a pop-up when I turn on my computers that updating will end 12/31/08.
#1- Is anyone else using AVG-AS 7.5? What are you going to use instead of AVG-AS 7.5 which not be usuable after 12/31/08? (Someone suggested MalwareBytes AntiMalware.)

#2- Also, I have an elderly neighbor who has been using AVG-AV 7.5 since the beginning on her notebook with Win98, and I guess that will also stop updating 12/31/08. What could she use if she has to uninstall AVG-AV 7.5? Any suggestions? Something not too complicated and will work with Win98?

Thanks for any help.
Alice

Yes we all have it the same way its over. They do give you an option to update to avg 8.But its the whole security one.I got my code for it last week good for 2 years. But I use Norton myself and like it.

Now i understand why the wisemen said"ignorance is bliss".I have AVG 7.5 installed and i never got any pop-ups about update expiry.THE FREE VERSION OF A-SQUARED ANTISPYWARE IS GOOD and it should fill the void left behind by AVG.There is a talk that A-Squared AntiSpyware comes up with more false positives than AVG,but don't you worry, it does a fine job as well!AVG people seem to have forgotten about me and that's fine with me as long as the updates continue! We will not allow AVG to spoil our Christmas!Adieu!

Dear Alice,
Just now got a pop-up about AVG 7.5's expiry.I don't like to be a carrier of bad news, never!AVG 8 version is a full internet security suite.I already have Kaspersky IS 2009 installed. So,Bye bye AVG 7.5.
