Question I've a ? or 2 'bout AV & Int. browsers
I was reading the post by "Atnskyline" "found new utilities program" (iobit) talking w/ "Jumbo". So, I wann'a try it, but 1st, as I'm still looking for other ways to gain a max speed of this unit after start-up I feel like switching to Firefox and also another free AV program. Recently had trouble w/ AVG so I removed it, now Avira is being a bit annoying too.

Any suggestions? Thanks guys.

Before trying to gain "max speed", exactly what slowdowns are you experiencing?

Many times a performance tweak that is advocated only gives a marginal improvement that may not even be noticed.

As for Avira, what are the concerns here?

It's usually during start-up, I had to wait until Avira & Yahoo messenger would show themselves 1st before I could continue, maybe I'm being too "picky" but then Avira would pop-up prompting to purchase the upgrade and also to update files. (I dunno') I disabled yahoo mess. & removed Avira. I checked the "startup" in programs....it's empty. I'd just like to have one good anti spy (just installed spybot) & one very good AV. I was reading-up on Nod32, but not sure yet. "decisions..decisions"

That popup in Avira only comes up after it has finished updating. That is a minor thing that I would not even consider.
You aren't going to do much of anything until everything gets loaded. Go online without AV or Antispyware and you are begging for a major slowdown, worse than you are currently experiencing.

Very well. Thanks for the heads-up. I re-installed Avira, I have windows firewall and spybot. I guess that should be good'nuff. Consider this one solved.

If i were you,(which anyway iam not),i wouldn't depend too heavily on windows firewall.Give Comodo Firewall Pro a try. It's worth it!

Comodo ? Do I need to remove the win firewall I have now ? & if yes, I don't see it in my add/remove programs, unless it's w/IE 7.
Pardon any "Duh!" questions I may have. I'm in my 7th week of a 15 week A+ cert. training program & we're only upto partitioning HD's, cloning them & installing various OS, dual boot, etc.

Hopefully next yr. I'll be more "savvy".
Thanks guys.

If you are using Windows firewall,Comodo will automatically turn it off when you install it.
