Exclamation Extreme Problems
Okay, for the last couple weeks my computer has been having serious problems. At first, it was just norton pop-ups saying trojan. whatever was being blocked. But then, it got worse. 1st, it deleted all the internet settings and connections, so the internet was gone. Then, I tried to open Norton. It just popped up a message:
INTERNAL ERROR.
So by then, I was getting extremely worried. I went onto a different computer, and was looking for help, and 1 site told me to delete rundll32.exe because it was a virus. I didn't know any better, so I did. So things got really bad then. I was going to just put all my important files, pictures, etc... On a flash drive and then just wipe the drive. But I couldn't drag and drop, copy & paste, ANYTHING to get it on the drive. So I just shut down the computer for a little bit, thinking of what to do, continuously searching how to restore rundll32.exe, get rid of my virus. When I turned it on, for the 1st time, I noticed Lavasoft Ad-Watch said 3 things:
Internal Error: Definitions file corrupted!
User Preferences file loaded.
Internal Error: Sites file missing or corrupted.
So I then found ClamWin Portable, an AntiVirus scanner that is meant to be configured on a computer, then sent via flash drive to the infected computer. I scanned it, it sent 20-some trojan viruses and 10 ad-ware thingies to the quarantine folder. I then tried to restore rundll32.exe through cmd line by typing:
expand D:\i386\rundll32.ex c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe
And got:
Can't open input file: d:\i386\rundll32.ex
So then I did:
expand D:\i386\rundll32.exe c:\windows\system32\rundll32.exe
Same answer as before.
So I copied rundll32.exe from a different computer, and tried to flash drive it over, and no success.
So I tried to turn off system restore and of course, I needed rundll32.exe.
So I booted up in safe mode, then shift-clicked all the viruses in the quarantine folder, then pressed: DELETE.
They dissapeared, but were not in the recycle bin. I am re-scanning the computer right now to see if they were truly deleted.

ANY HELP ON FIXING MY COMPUTER IS GREATLY APPRECIATED!!!
Thanks

It might get you back to an operating condition if you do a repair. Looks like you have a windows cd, so I would try a windows repair so you can get your files off the system. It should reinstall any missing files you accidently deleted(with luck) .

Well, the 1st option is not there for me. There are some important files & pictures that I need to get off.

But how do I do this Windows Restore?

I know there is an option on the windows disk that lets u transfer stuff, could I put all my important stuff on there? If so, that'd be sweet. I'm going to try that right now.

P.S: The Virus Scan was clean.

Right now it is transferring my documents, WoW stuff, and pictures, settings, etc...
Then I plan to check if it worked on this computer, wipe the drive, then send all my files to the new drive after it installs XP. Please tell me if this will work or not, because I dont wanna lose these things, they are pretty dang important.

Also, will this carry the effects of the virus over? Will I still be missing rundll32.exe? Or will it be like brand-new aside from the documents?
Oh boy, It'll be a P.I.T.A to get all my programs back. So I want to know if the effects of the virus will carry over.

PLEASE RESPOND A.S.A.P!!!

Thank you!
Have a good Christmas!

Please remove the diagram from your signature as it's not appropriate for our site.

I'm not sure I like your username either so please send me a private message with an alternate choice and I will change it for you.
