simply trying to block a program or two
I have Kaspersky Lab whatever the latest version is. 2009? And running XP Media center Edition SP2. I am trying to block some programs using a firewall but can not find where to do so. I checked the windows firewall but only found exceptions- not a list TO block. help please?

KIS 2009.Open it and at the top right hand corner click on"settings".In the screen that appears, you can see ,on the left hand side"System Security".
Open that by clicking on it ,where you will see"Enable Firewall"and opposite to that "Settings"in a box.
Now open the setting box,and "Rules settings"screen will be displayed.Click on the "Applications Tab" and as you scroll down you can see1)Trusted, 2)Low Restricted,3)High Restricted and 4)Untrusted.That's the bull's eye for you where you can type in the programs to be blocked.

Don't forget to Disable the vista defender!

Mr.undrscore,
This was what you wrote in the original post"I have Kaspersky Lab whatever the latest version is. 2009?".You taught me a good lesson in not answering such vague questions. You,Yourself is not sure of the name of the product installed on your computer!

@kenny: Generally much of everything i am trying to block access from going online. I really can't stand the constant drain on my system by all this other junk! my programs work fine and don't need anymore stinking updates!
@perfume: my apologies, i would have gone into length but had my two little sisters over and they were nagging on me to come play with them. What I was talking about was that after following those steps i don't come up to the same options as people describe. I AM using kaspersky 2009- bought it about a month ago- or less.
An to SHOW what I am talking about:

---------then when i DO click that settings button next to Enable Proactive Defense...

i dont know how to do that, sorry. i dont use paid (bloatware crap) security apps. they slow down pc and give merely satisfactory protection. there is no way to be 100% immune and protected but you can get probably 90% protected. new viruses and other bad stuff, are being made up every minute. so maybe try threat fire free antivirushttp://www.threatfire.com/
