Windows XP firewall doesnt have outbound protection. That means any program including malware can phone home.

Comodo does have outbound protection and it has a whitelist of known programs that are safe to allow outbound so you don't get a lot of dialog boxes asking for 'allow' or 'deny'.

In addition, Comodo has intrusion detection. It detects if any program is doing something it ought not to. Then it asks for 'allow' or 'deny', Those questions may be a bit technical.

All in all, I like Comodo.
