Lightbulb Ca computer associates doesn't work
To any friend

I have installed CA computer associates security center paying normally the license thru credit card.
After a few month it stopped updating virus and malware libraries, saying that there is a connection error (but there isn't any error) and this is a very very grave feature for an antivirus programm; my opinion is so that there is easily an internet fraud to extort money thru internet from honest persons and I advise any interested friend honest person not to buy this program in order not to have the same problem like me; please be aware !!

I think you are way too quick in your assumptions. CA is a trusthworthy product. Have you eliminated all other possible causes before condemning the product? How about telling us what measures you've taken to elminate possible problems with your own connection and/or malware? Have you run any registry cleaners, which is not recommended? The program could have been damaged or had some components removed by such programs or other anti-virus scans. As I said, there could be many reasons and even if there is a problem on their end have you addressed it with them?

CA antivirus doesn't work well - following 1
Dear Sir

Thank You for the calm comment.
But consider that from the moment I have installed this antivirus system I received only troubles (this system was installed as a pre-installed product initially as e-trust antivirus and it worked well, so I decided to renew the license, but the software house replied that e-trust was not more supported and so I had to install the new C.A. security center); from that moment I received only troubles.
Firstly because CA security center didn't work well with WINDOWS FIREWALL and I decided, after some troubles, to disconnect the included C.A. firewall; secondly it worked very slow to do scans and it took longer than a day (I decided to scan the computer only in the night, while it was not in use); third it doesn't update the virus signatures since 21 days !!
My computer is working well with all the other programs and except with this one only. Because I have payed valid money I should not have to support so much troubles expecially from my antivirus system.
My opinion is that CA has probably some grave problems but should not discharge its problems on the shoulders of the clients and this behaviour is in any case not honest and could be even dangerous for the safety of the computers of the clients and also for the precious thousands of files contained in mine.
I bought this system to be sure; but now I am not sure that my computer is protected.
My first opinion was also that could be the case of a computer fraude.
Only this that I have remarked is sufficient to loose any trust by side of the clients.
Regards.

I'm not sure what you mean saying that it didn't work well with Windows Firewall as you should have Windows Firewall turned off when using the CA Suite.

It's difficult to comment on your other points as I don't know how you had the program configured for updates and scanning or what other programs you have on your computer that could be causing conflicts. I'm not saying it's the best program there is but it's not a bad one or a rip off by any means. Of course, people have specific issues with all programs so it depends on who you speak to and all are entitled to their opinions.

However, I've deleted your other thread as there is no need to start a new one for the same discussion we're having here.

I agree here that it is not fraud, but so you know the company Computer Associates was a giant on the scene at one time in software development. Personally I remember when their Innoculateit was "king of the hill" but when ETrust came along, it was "third rate" IMHO" and amongst the poorest antivirus programs out there. CA was initially good program developed in Australia using a different antivirus engine built for some reason when it came here it was "doggier" than ETrust.
That all said there has to be something wrong in your setup or options calling for downloading updates. Either it somehow reset to dialup when you are on Broadband or vice versa and the company must have tech support. Why not try their site and look for "contact us" and see what they have to say.
Personally though I would never recommend it as I recommend Avira for free and Nod32 for paid and always www.superantispyware.com for virus. You might also want to download and run Supertantispyware update and scan as it is more than possible some malware has interfered with the updating procedure and it may not be a Ca problem at all.
