Off Site Backup service wanted
Hi, everyone:
I have a valuable collection of information which represents over ten years of intensive research, writing, and collection residing on my home desktop. I have an external hard drive which I use for backing up my system, and I am using several 8 GB memory sticks to back up the most critical material to take off site in case of a residence disaster.

The memory stick solution is awkward and time consuming, and it is difficult in my situation to find a convenient place to store the sticks off site.

I have looked at some places that offer on line backup service, but the ones I have contacted are not really interested in a "small potatoes" operation such as mine (probably about 15 GB now and growing to about 20 - 25 GB in the next year).

Does anyone have a suggestion for an economical and reliable online, offsite backup service?

I don't know whether this matters, but I am located in Ontario, Canada and would prefer using a Canadian source. The work I am doing is a personal local history project from which there is no revenue, so the "economical" part is important.

Thanks

I don't know about your ISP but some will offer storage space along with their service. It might be something worth checking out.

Re: Offsite backup
Thanks for the reply. I have checked the local ISPs and none of them provide this service. The only way this solution would work in this area would be if we had a web site - which we do not need at this point

I use Mozy for no cost, but you need more than they provide foc. However their cost for unlimited on-line backup is very reasobable:

it seems you have lots of backups now but are worried about a natural diaster.
I would start a website you can do this for 5 or 6 bucks a months.
ftp everything up to your host.
It also gives you something to play with, having a website.
Dont go for the free websites!

Online backup services run as services and silently backup files as they're changed. A web hosting service isn't likely to provide this type of functionality.

True:
It is just an alternative at an affordable price and the new files would have to be uploaded every few days.
