Solved: how to get rid of residual ewido files
I am trying to install AVG Anti-Virus which I just bought. I use to have the free AVG Anti-Spyware program on my PC, but I uninstalled it using Add/Remove Programs. I then went in, found a Grisoft folder under programs and also deleted that.
Now I can't install the new Anti-Virus program as it tells me that I still have ewido files on the computer. I do see some in the registry, but it won't let me delete them.
This really burns me as I bought the program, and I can't get AVG to help me! I've sent three tech support emails, and nothing!
Has anyone else found a way to get around this?
Thanks.

If this is in the wrong area, please let me know, or move it somebody! - thanks

Get the AVG Removal Tool that can be found here [ http://www.avg.com/download-tools ] and run it.
Then, try installing again.

resolution!
Thank you for your reply. I did want that removal tool, however it did not help. I still had the ewido registry keys and could not delete them. I had emailed AVG a few times and overnight I did get a reply. They sent me another file which did work. I don't know if they have that posted on their website, but I told them that they should. Here are the particulars that they told me;
If there is no record about this application, proceed as follows:
- Save the attached file "remove_ewido.zi_"
- Rename "remove_ewido.zi_" to "remove_ewido.zip" and extract its
contents.
- Double-click on the file "remove_ewido.reg" and confirm the
displayed dialogue.
- Restart your computer.
- In case one of the following folders exists, please delete it:
C:\Program Files\ewido anti-spyware 4.0
C:\Program Files\Grisoft\AVG Anti-Spyware 7.5
- Run the AVG installation again. They sent me that file, which I still have. I will try to upload it for someone else who may need this solution.
