Kaspersky Internet Security 2009...should I?
Based on readings here last year I decided to buy Kaspersky Internet Security Ver. 7. I didn't mind spending the money. After reading all the highjack postings, I'd pay anything to prevent that. "K" did a good job of that, but was not easy to get along with, took a little learning curve, and is about to expire. The "K 2009" upgrade reviews on Cnet lead me to believe it's supposed to be even harder to live with although still a "world class" virus preventer. Before I bite the bullet and upgrade (you're told to ABSOLUTELY remove Ver 7) to the 2009, I've heard at least several good reports about the new Norton 2009. I used Norton years ago...that's why I changed. What's the "word" in the tech world about the options out there at this time?

Well, anything but Norton!!!

Although I find Kaspersky to be a really good product, it does take a little getting used to.

I personaly use NOD32 (with ESET Smart Security) and I think you should consider it before anything else than Kaspersky. It's really effective, fast, takes very little system resources and is easy to use.

Or, stick with Kaspersky.

After doing some more checking about Kaspersky...it seems that "K 2009" caused some crashes on computers which were using Firefox as the browser. That's me. But Firefox said "K" had supposedly fixed that in an update. Is that true? If I buy a store bought package from Amazon would the disc have the update on it? What about a disc from the "K" site. Hopefully, the downloaded version would be "updated". Reading the reviews on Amazon make you a little weary. Even some from experienced "K" users: some very good and some very bad. Have to "Pee" or get off the pot in 10 days. I'm inclined to give it a go. But if I get the "blue screen of death" I'll put a pin in a doll with your name on it.

Personaly, I would recommend ESET Smart Security. I never had any negative issues with it. So, forget about Kaspersky! (I don't want the doll and the pin!!!)

Karbo, bless you for the time you take to answer these ?'s. Helps to solidify my choice. I did do a search on your recommendation, and that's certainly an option. Since I already have some experience with "K's" thought process, I'd just as soon not have to go through another (different) learning curve although your choice might be an easier one. I'll pull the plug in the next day or so on an upgrade of "K". Pray for me! Thanks again for your wisdom.
