I had to re-image my computer because of a virus. Just before I lost everything I started getting files in my temp folder like STS7.tmp and MAR5.tmp. Now they are back. I don't know when they started or what they are but every time I boot my computer there are 2 or 3 of each with a different number. Does anyone know what they are? I checked other computers and no one has them. I'm not sure but I think they may have started when I downloaded real player. I deleted it but they still come up. Can anyone give me advice?

Hello Bill. What you state is indeed one of the more suspicious symptoms that precede a Malware infection. Please post a log in the Malware Removal Forums and the experts will advise you if there is anything worth worrying about or not. If nothing comes up, then we will continue from here.

Even though it sounds like malware, it could be any old program creating the files and potentially no need to involved the Malware Gold Shields!

Just to add,whenever i clear my .temp folder,the installed Real Player 11 Gold, stops working and shows an error message "the program is not working,close the program". I have Winamp installed and it is not affected.

When you attempt to delete one of these, are they deleteable??

If not, download and install WhoLockMe

Then, on a file that won't delete, select it, right mouse and select WhoLockMe. It "should" indicate the process that has it open.

As for the log, I don't see anything abnormal in it.

Yes they delete but come right back when I reboot. I get nothing in a virus scan. I guess I'm just paranoid because of the last virus.
