I'm looking for a way to do a scan via a boot disk on a system that is very slow and infected.

Is there a need to load the registry hive and scan that too? I'm looking for a boot disk that would do that - but things like BartPE take a long time to boot up on a slow computer. One of the Linux distros would be great - but I doubt they could work with hives.

Any ideas?
