Gotrusted is it safe?
I just downloaded a program call gotrusted from cnethttp://www.download.com/GoTrusted-Se...-10671770.html. It is a proxy program, I wanted to watch videos that arent available in my country. I installed the program but i had to register for the freetrial and write my credit card details, so i thought forget it. When i tried to unistall the program i couldnt it just got stuck under the unistallation process. So I did a hard turnoff om my laptop and turned it back on. The program automaticly started when I logged in to windows but it wasnt in controlpanel unistall programs. So I did a dell factory reset.
So now im worried what information the program got and is it gone from my computer now? Could it have got information from other computers on my network that connect through the same router as me?
this is there hompage http://www.gotrusted.com/
thanks in advance

Hi Toxo,

With download mirror sites at download.com (where there are also good 3rd party reviews) and zdnet.com, I would be inclined to suggest you don't lose any sleep about it.
If you feel you have deleted the program you might try checking that out at My Computer/Local Disk (C):/Documents and Settings/User (= your logon name)/Application Data, where you might find an empty or almost empty folder there.
Sometimes programs do not uninstall any too cleanly and the remaining debris has to be deleted by hand.
Check also in My Computer/Local Disk (C):/Program Files for a GoTrusted folder.
You could also download and run Windows Install Clean Up from support.microsoft.com/kb/290301 if it shows that GoTrusted is still installed in the list of programs it displays. Do make sure you can clearly identify this unwanted program before uninstalling anything.
Finally, if you can't achieve peace of mind, ask your bank to issue a new credit/debit card under a new number.

Best regards - eljay.

Be careful what you delete. Since this program is involved with your connection, you could end up without one.

As far as the "Cleanup Utility" goes, it doesn't "clean" up anything except registry entries from programs that have been installed with Windows Installer. All others will not be listed. It will not clean up any remnants of programs and if you remove any entries for programs that you have installed and are still there, they will not be uninstallable or re-installable. So be careful.

The best option may be to reinstall the program. That will repair the uninstaller. Then boot to Safe Mode (if it does not use Windows Installer) and uninstall it from there, after checking Task Manager and being sure it is not running.

If "Dell Factory reset" means he used the restore partition to go back to out of the box, then its gone.
