Storing My Passwords
I use an excel spreadsheet that I keep on my desktop for easy access of my passwords. Is this safe? Can anyone hack into my computer and see my passwords I store on my desktop?

Also I have another question that doesn't really fall into this category but I just bought a new laptop and I hate the little touch mouse pad because to the far right it has a function that will let you scroll automatically and I don't like that. Is there anyway I can turn this function off? It's hard to explain but if you accidentally hit the far right of the touch mouse pad it just starts scrolling. I would like to disable this feature if at all possible. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi,
For your passwords, perhaps RoboForm reviewed here:

That mouse pad feature? Just discovered my laptop does that too so I'll see what others suggest.

Roboform is a good one and there are others like it. Not only does it pop up and offer to fill in your usernames and passwords for you, but it has a master password that you can set to be needed every time you need a password, or just once per session.

Mine has accumulated some 5000 passwords over the last few years, and it still functions perfectly in almost all browsers (with some added plugins). The files are encrypted and easily backed up.

It can also remember whole forms and fill in names and addresses for you.

to disable the scroll feature on the mouse pad there might be an icon in your system tray to open the settings (e.g. Synaptics pointing device). If not then go to Control Panel, select mouse and look in the different tabs. On my laptop there is a green box with red shading which you can drag to adjust it's size and a check box to turn it off completely

Both my problems solved! Thanks everyone for your responses. I disabled the scroll function on my key pad and will use the Roboform to store my passwords! You all are the greatest! Problem solved
