Lightbulb Cant uninstall antivirus
Hi!

A few days ago some kind of rootkit infected my computer, and ruined my antivirus and antispyware programs. (I cleaned my computer according to this forum). I used bitdefender and during uninstall the computer froze. I downloaded BD uninstall tool but due to some unknown problem it couldnt remove main registry keys. I had to change to an other one (nod32) but at the start of the installation it detects BD too.

exact same problem here(but the only one on the web):

hxxp://forum.bitdefender.com/index.php?showtopic=10715

I dig a bit deeper and extracted the uninstall tool and looked into a xml file (config.xml) that contains the files, registry keys and reg values that the tool clears. However dont know wich "main" values are the ones that needs to be cleared.
Than it came in to my mind that i should create a .reg file that clears all of them, and changes the values but no success since I am not able to create one that works.

I attached my reg file that doesn't work becaouse it removes only the keys and doesnt do anything with the values, and doesnt work at all. I attached the config file that contains the commands and so on. I attached an image too that shows the uninstallation process itself.

the uninstall tool can be obtained here:

Respect to those who can solve this ****ety thing!

Your help is much appreciated!

I had exact same problems with an antivirus program, It was McAfee though but anyway so the automatic uninstall did not work, nor thus McAfee removal tool. I could not install a new AV because its still detecting McAfee AV. I called up their tech support and they had me manually delete McAfee files in the registry.

But, before you go do that desperate move, I would suggest installing a registry cleaner first lets say TuneUp Utilities maybe and run its registry cleaner.

Dear hefterbrumi,
Try this option, though many disagree, but you are in a rather tight situation: http://www.revouninstaller.com .It's a freeware and since you seem to know your way in the registry, this should do the job of COMPLETELY uninstalling the BitDefender. You may try the 3rd or even the 4th option in the Revo Uninstaller(RECOMMENDED ONLY FOR PEOPLE WHO KNOW FOR SURE WHAT THEY ARE DOING WITH/IN THE REGISTRY)! Best wishes!

Hi and thanx for the reply!

I tried five different reg cleaner none of them worked. Unfortunatelly Revouninstaller do not see BD.

Thats why I found that config file, but who knows wich registry key or value is the one that makes this madness....
