Biometric security
My daughter just got me a refurbished Dell Latitude D510 Laptop. I reviewed it on the internet and it says that the laptop does not have biometric security. What is that? Not sure what that is and if I need it. Does this mean I should not visit a site that requires a password? The computer has Windows XP Professional. I will not be using it for business. It is just for personal use. Also it says no flash card reader. Does this mean I cannot transfer something I have on my desktop to the laptop? Also no Gigabit Ethernet. What is that? Thanks for any answers.

"Biometric security" probably refers to a fingerprint scanner. You don't need one, and it has nothing to do with the ability to enter or use passwords for anything.

A flash card reader reads flash cards such as SD cards that a digital camera might use. If you want to read those on that particular computer you'd need to purchase a separate card reader.

You can copy whatever files you want using CDs, DVDs, flash drives, external hard drives, or a network connection. You just can use flash memory cards without buying a flash card reader.
