Problem downloading Zonealarm
Hi,

I am trying to download Zonealarm onto my laptop but am getting an error message stating that Zonealarm has stopped working. I then get a message stating To help protect your computer Data Execution Prevention has closed Zonealarm Client.

I am confused as to why I can't run Zonealarm. Also I am worried that I have no firewall protection. Any help would be appreciated. I am running Vista.

Thanks

Do you at least have Vista's firewall turned on?

Yes I have this turned on but am not sure what level of protection this provides.

Any ideas what is causing the problems with Zone alarm and how it can be overcome?

I have goggled the problem and there seems to be an issue with Zone alarm and logitech web cam. My laptop has a built in web cam (I have an Acer Aspire 7730) but not sure if logitech or not.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Thanks for posting. Would there be any risk in trying to run Zonealarm with DEP switched off. I am worried that it may leave PC open to attack.

Is there a known compatability issue running Zonealarm with Vista?. I have used ZA with XP and never experienced any problems.

ZA works with Vista.

Don't forget, you only turn off DEP for ZA.

Solved: Zonealarm and Vista headache!
Hi,

I am running Visa and have tried to download Zonealarm onto my laptop but am getting an error message stating that Zonealarm has stopped working. I then get a message stating To help protect your computer, Data Execution Prevention has closed Zonealarm Client.

Zonealarm appears to load and the icon appears in my in tray, however I am then unable to connect to the internet. Uninstalling Zonealarm allows connection to the internet so the problem must be something to do with the Firewall software.

I have been advised that I can switch off the Data Execution Prevention function and allow access for ZA only. Would this solve the problem if so would the PC's security be compromised?

I have used ZA for years with XP without a hitch.

I currently only have the Vista Firewall installed and am not sure whether it will provide suficient protection.

Is this a known problem with ZA and Vista?

Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Hi,

Yes - I have an Acer Aspire 7730. I have read somewhere that ZA can conflict with certain intergrated webcams (mine has one).

Were you getting similar error messages? Did you manage to resolve problem?.
