Hi to all members from Bonny Scotland (uk)
A few days ago. i decided to uninstall ''A-Squared free'' I had this installed on my computer for some time (recommended by a friend amongst others sources. it became sluggish at updating scanning and especially at starting up. the early editions of A-squared were moderate ever since version 4 came out its ran slow for me. but its protection is one thing im not sure about.
For instance i use Eset nod 32 which people tell me is the best Anti v out there and sitting next to kapersky. Anyway after removing A-Squared my girlfriend had told me that the computer was acting strange for her with very slow internet service and abnormal boots and shutdowns. i scanned my system with the nod 32 scanner and found nothing. So i decided to reinstall another antispyware/ malware app. i was stuck between. spy bot search and destroy. adware. Avg antispyware. or returning to using A-squared. i opted for this one app' named, "Malwarebytes anti malware". i installed it only for it to crash. so off i removed it. and decided and went an reinstalled A-squared. i updated and scanned. 20 mins later im shocked to discover the presence of
Trojan-spy.Win32.Banbra!IK.
WTF .................Now im thinking that this trojan came shipped with A-squared or either it came with malwarebytes or my gf clicked on a malicous link while surfing the net... before i deleted it i moved it to quarantine an decided to restore it. Then i went and an scanned the infected folder and the rest of the system with Esets nod32 and windows defender and nothing is found.
so
Is ESET NOD32 getting lazy or is A-squared just a bag of s**t with its rogue bogus trojans. so this has prompted me to voice my concerns so does anyone have any thoughts upon this. i just cant understand that if the trojan was rightfully a trojan then why didnt nod 32 detect it during its scan.
