Solved: Adobe Flash Player10 and still vulnerable?
Dear friends,
I have KIS2009 on my system and after a complete un-installation of Adobe flash player9, see this article: http://cyberinsecure.com/adobe-fixes...ash-player-10/

I have installed version 10(the latest) of the player and still KIS2009 deems to put it under the heading Active threats:criticality: very dangerous. This warning comes up ever since i installed the new version of the Flash player. When i right click on Detected,i am taken to http://www.viruslist.com/en/advisories/28083

Any constructive help is welcome and iam thanful for that.

Isn't there any way of telling Kaspersky that you trust the software? Haven't had any issue with Flash Player 10 or any other versions. But, like Windows or IE, Flash may have certain vulnerabilities to watch for. That is Flash's problem and they have to take care of their own stuff by releasing patches or updates.

Even if Kas repeats that all day, it doesn't change the fact that you need Flash to use the Internet...

Even SpywareBlaster has an option called Flash Killer to disable Flash from you browser. It's stupid, a lot of sites won't work without it. You have no choice to keep it.

As mentioned in the previous post, the kaspersky forum is where you go for the experts who can do heavy lifting. http://forum.kaspersky.com/

But ... I had the same flag when I installed Kaspersky KIS2009 and updating the F;ash player to 10.0.12.36 got rid of it.

I did have to categorize my Acrobat 5.0 as a trusted application, which KIS also doesn't trust, but I use it on my own PDF files and am not ready to pay 100 bucks to upgrade.

It is very simple

when you update to flash 10, the broken flash updater still leaves some flash 9 & earlier versions on the computer

KAV sees them but isn't good at telling you which files are left

scan here http://secunia.com/software_inspector/ for out of date & vulnerable common applications on your computer

Take a note of the outdated flash file(s) & delete them

post back if you have problems

Dear Karbo, mrss, Kenny94 and DVK01,
I thank all four of you for the inputs! Now, don't laugh! Or,i'll come down heavy on you LOL. Iam trying to send a snapshot of secunia inspector's findings as an attachment. Kindly see it and you can notice that there are two flash players there! Since when has Macromedia started operations? It's been bought lock, stock and barrel by Adobe!

Just went to the Secunia site you mentioned above while using Opera browser. Ran into BIG problem there.
Kicked me offline and whenever I try to go online again with Opera, restarts at same page automatically and right back off again.
Having to use IE to do this post.

Dear hrlow2,
I faced no such probs.Could even take a thumb nail snapshot. I use FF3,as you know!

Dear Kenny94,Karbo ,mrss and DVK01,
I never intentionally downloaded anything remotely named Macromedia flash player. You can see i have three Adobe Fp's running!
I know for a fact that Karbo dosen't like Adobe!

Did that happen just going to the site or trying to do the scan?

I use opera for my browsing and I didn't have any problems going to the site but I couldn't run the scan because I don't have java installed on my computer,

Hopefully you can get opera working again,

Have managed to get it back by some FAST mouse clicking to close that tab before it got to that page.
Will try again later with IE. Maybe it just doesn't like Opera.

It happened just by going to the site. Didn't have time to click on the scan.

That's strange,

I have a few things disabled in opera (javascript, frames, plug-ins, etc) but I enabled everything before going to the site,

I'm using opera version 9.63,

Maybe it has some thing to do with me not having java,

Or some other setting I may have changed in opera that I'm just forgetting about,

Glad to hear you got opera back though.
