Solved: Antivirus 2010 problems HELP!
Earlier this evening my daughter was online and got apop up about the computer being unprotected. She clicked cancel but it installed anyway. We keep getting these pop ups every few minutes with security alerts and recommendations. I tried to uninstall it. It looked like the uninstall worked, but the icon is still in my system tray. I did a search and nothing came up (I found the location of this file the first time using the search. After "uninstalling" it, the search turns up nothing. It is no longer found under start, programs. How do I get rid of this thing? I use Mcafee and I did a scan and it shows nothing. I have a Compaq that runs Windows Vista. Can I do a restore? will that fix it? I am not very computer savy, so I apologize if this seems like a "dumb" question. I am just so exasperated. Thank you

Hi,
I think you need to post a HijackThis Log, instructions at this TSG 'sticky':
http://forums.techguy.org/malware-re...st-before.html

You'll need to 'report' this thread to ask for it to be moved to the Malware forum.
Please be patient as there aren't that many qualified Malware experts but there are loads of people seeking their help.

Richard.

Thank you Richard for your reply. A friend of mine, who is much more computer savy than I am, suggested that I download a spyware detector/remover. I did so (at the cost of $29.95). However, it worked and my problem is resolved. Again, thank you for your reply.
