I have a NEC powermate vl260,with win xp sp2, pre installed. the problem I have is that I dont have a win xp cd, I contacted NEC who say I can purchase a copy of the winxp CD. I dont feel that I should have to purchase the CD. but if I have to format my hard disk, I am unable to, I am lost at what I should do ? Thanks in advance
Check to see when it boots up if it does have a 'recovery partition'. Some companies place a recovery partition on the hard drive, so that when in need, all you need to do is boot using that partition and it will start a restore process, and it will format and reload a factory fresh configuration for you.
