Solved: infected or not???
hi all im running vista with norton security, which when run concludes ive no viruses.however im getting multiple pop ups when using int explorer.my pop up blocker is on.ive recently downloaded "stopzilla" which offers a free scan with a final payment to rectify any problems.this scan says ive multiple trojans etc etc .is this correct or are they just after my hard earned cash.if it is correct why isnt my norton dealing with these viruses and my pop ups.cheers.

Can you post a copy of the scan results? It would help to know what was detected and where it was located.

Hi ian999,

This is Mike from the Norton Authorized Support Team.

Norton internet Security is a full-featured application that includes detection of viruses, worms, spyware, bots, and more. Having more than one real-time internet security or antivirus application can cause conflicts and cause Norton to not function correctly, thereby leaving your system vulnerable to infections.

The first thing I would advise you to do is to remove Stopzilla and any other third-party antivirus and internet security applications so they do not conflict with Norton. Also make sure that the Windows Firewall and Windows Defender are disabled, as Norton is handling this for you.

Next, empty all temporary internet files and cookies from all of the browsers.

Open Norton Internet Security and manually run LiveUpdate to make sure you have the latest program and definition files applied. After the update process has finished, restart your computer in Windows Safe Mode, launch Norton internet Security, and perform a "Full System Scan" to check for infections that may be causing the pop-ups.

NOTE: if you are using Norton Internet Security 2007-2008, and your subscription is still valid, you are entitled to a free update to Norton Internet Security 2009, which is highly encouraged. If you do need to update, please visit the Norton update Center at the following location.

Norton Update Center

Thank you,
Mike
