problems with hard drives
I have had some files removed after a virus scan.

I now have a problem accessing internet explorer and others, plus accessing C: and D: drives from double click. Can access them by right click and explore.

Error message

cannot find 'RECYCLER\s-3-2-53-100012741-100019458-1348.com'

can anyone help me??

Thanks

Which OS are you using? XP or Vista?

You can use System Restore but that may reactivate the virus.

Try choosing Safe Mode with Networking, Can you get on the Internet that way?

If so download AVG Free 8.0 from http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

and do a full scan after updating

johnmh,

The General Security forum is only for general questions regarding security software and things of that nature but not for actually removing malware as we have qualified helpers who are the only members who are authorized to assist with those matters. You can easily identify them as they have either a gold or blue shield beside their usernames. Please refer to this excerpt from the rules:

I'm going to close this thread and ask you to repost in the Malware Removal & HijackThis Logs forum for the proper assistance.
