I have an IBM Thinkpad A20M Laptop that belongs to a close friend of mine. He aquired a virus that, amoung other things, prevented him from opening his logging onto the internet. He asked me to clean the offending virus and get the laptop so it could connect to the internet again.
I logger onto the laptop and ran a few malware/anti-virus progs and cleaned the system up. After doing so, I needed to connect to the internet to download some virus definition updates. When I got the laptop, it was set up so when the logon screen popped up, it displayed three boxes for entering the Uers Name, Password, and Domain. The User Name and Domain were already entered, so all that was needed was to enter the password (which the owner gave me) to complete the logon.
To connect to the internet, I had to run the Network Setup Wizard to set the laptop up so I could connect to my LAN. After saving the settings, I had to reboot. During the reboot, the logon popup only displayed a box for the User Name and the Password. The box for the Domain was missing. I entered the correct password and pressed "Enter" to logon, but I received an error message indicating I needed to make sure the User Name, Password and Domain were entered correctly before I could logon.
I would like to how I would go about making the changes necessary to be able to logon again? I have the correct User Name, Password, and Domain, but with the changes I made to connect to my LAN, I wouldn't think entering the Domain would need to be done. Since it's asking for the Domain, I think the changes I made with the Network Wizard may not have taken hold fully. Hope someone is able to get me back up and running again so I don't have to give my friend his laptop back in a messed up state.
