i cant access antivirus
hello
iv had a problem with my computer for ages, it freezes all the time when it appears to get too hot, also some of the noises it makes, it sounds like its just going to die when starting up.
there is obviously some viruses on it as i my avg antivirus has ran out and i cant update it. i also cant get on any antivirus website.
when i use google on firefox, in any search, not just for antivirus i always get redirected to another page totally irrelivant to the one i need. although i dont have that problem with internet explorer i still cant access antivirus through that either.
can anyone help??

Have you checked the fans. If the fans are not working right it will make a horrible racket at start up. My last computer had that problem right from the time I brought it home. I paid 20 bucks to change all of them and it ran quiet as a mouse. Better that than blowing your hard drive or mother board. You may have a virus I don't know but maybe someone else can help with that I can't.

Dear horsey123,
Hi! Since your computer seems to have both hardware and software(Virus) problems AND seems to be getting older by the day, my sincere suggestion to you would be to visit eBay USA and look up under "computers and networking" and if you like the price and the configurations offered,go ahead and buy it! eBay has been voted the second safest( first being-American Express) web site to deal with.

Now a days gaming on a computer has become a craze, and if you like playing, then it's time to shell out some cash and get one that fits !http://computers.shop.ebay.com/Compu...QQ_sacatZ58058

Hi horsey123,
Just in case it gives up on you, have you backed up your important docs, photos, music to an external storage device?

I don't think his computer is toast. I think he has a fan problem and a virus problem. My last computer had a loud scraping noise on start up, was so slow and had to be rebooted because it would freeze right from the factory. Once the fans were changed it ran quiet as a mouse and sped up.

Hi oil painter,
I do like to worry for me & everyone else - but hopefully I'm being overcautious. Backups are a good idea though, I think you'll agree?

Richard.

i can now get onto different anti virus websites and have installed avast home edition, although the pc still freezes after a while. do you have any suggestions of an anti virus that i could purchase or do you think avast is suitable?

I use McAfee and I have never had a problem with it --I did have Norton ans Symantic (by the same maker ) and I hated both of them. Did you get those fans changed? If it's freezing because it's getting too hot you could lose your mother board or hard drive and have to buy a new computer

Tell you what I'd do I'd go and make a new thread in General security. Title your thread No problem just advice on antiviruses--and ask if they were you what antivirus they would recomend. That's where the guys that know will find it
